Water Supply: Always bring more water than you think you’ll need. The desert’s dry heat can dehydrate you quickly, so aim for at least one gallon of water per person, per day.
Sun Protection: The desert sun can be unforgiving. Pack sunscreen with high SPF, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing to shield your skin.
Appropriate Footwear: Wear sturdy hiking boots with good grip to handle rocky or sandy terrain. Don’t forget moisture-wicking socks.
Food and Snacks: I provide lunch but for extra energy bring lightweight, high-energy snacks like nuts, protein bars, or dried fruits to keep your energy up during long hikes.
First Aid Kit: I am equipped for minor injuries or emergencies but you can bring bandages, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, and any personal medications.
Layered Clothing: While it may be hot during the day, desert temperatures can drop significantly at night. Pack a lightweight jacket or thermal layer.
Emergency Supplies: Carry a whistle, multi-tool, and a small mirror for signaling, as well as a flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries.
